The Big Idea:

Create a system that provides the necessary network resources for in-house production staff, off-site member funeral homes, staff on the road, and web services available to the public. This includes setup and maintenance of servers, workstations, kiosks, laptops, access points, bridges/repeaters, firewalls, switches, NAS, and redundant systems. The list is truely a cornucopia of intelligent devices.

Description:

What kind of security experts would we be if we simply outlined the entire recipe? Instead we can tell you this; we implemented network isolation with controlled routes, between the varying different environments; hosting, production, and data. It was necessary to provide portals such as VPN (SSL, B2B, Site to Site) access to different portions depending upon user provided credentials. Beyond network topology, these systems had to be fast, reliable, and redundant. By combining the strengths of both Open Source and Microsoft solutions, we were able to provide the necessary production applications.
